Why we were hired…. (and why we donated our services)
Immediately following the earthquake tragedy in Haiti, Joe Ely and the owners of Direct Events quickly organized a benefit concert to raise money for the relief efforts in Haiti. The Austin Music Hall donated the venue and Joe Ely rallied top Texas music acts such as Asleep at the Wheel, Bob Schneider, Ray Wylie Hubbard and Double Trouble to perform at the concert. Joe Ely asked Lava Studios to donate audio and video services so that a DVD product could be created and sold following the event.
What we did…..
The Lava team donated all equipment and personnel to shoot and record over 8 hours of content during the all day concert in early 2010. Lava’s ten member crew executed a five camera HD video shoot and a 24 track multi track audio recording onsite at the Austin Music Hall. Lava also handled mixing and mastering of the audio and turnkey post production on the video.
Results…..
The finishing touches are being put on the final DVD product and the team is in discussions with PBS about airing a telethon which would leverage the video content from the concert to raise funding in a live telethon. The concert itself raised over $100,000 which was donated to the Clinton/Bush Haiti relief foundation.
