Why we were hired….

Lava Studios was hired by producer Lance Webb, to produce a live recording of legendary musicians Joe Ely and Joel Guzman.  Lava’s ability to handle onsite multi-track recording and in studio mixing and mastering along with the musicians’ interest in working with Bryan Anderton, co-owner of Lava Studios, made Lava an easy choice for this project.

What we did…..

The Lava team, led by Bryan Anderton, managed every aspect of the recording project from pre-production to recording, mixing and mastering.   We handled onsite multitrack recording over the course of two nights and two shows at the famous Cactus Café on the campus of the University of Texas.  From there, the tracks were taken into the Lava Studios facility for overdubs, mixing and mastering.

Why we were hired….

Erik Telford, an Austin, TX based jazz artist, composer and trumpet player chose Lava Studios to produce his 2010 CD, Kinetic, largely due to his interest in working with Lava’s Bryan Anderton as the producer of the project.  Additionally, with an in house Steinway piano, Hammond C3 organ, Rhodes piano, Wurlizer piano and one of the finest microphone and outboard processor collections in Austin, Lava Studios was well equipped to handle the comprehensive needs of this project.

What we did…..

The Lava team, led by producer, Bryan Anderton managed every aspect of the recording project from pre-production to recording, mixing and mastering.  With 10 musicians performing 11 songs primarily live in the studio, this was a detailed and massive undertaking.  Bryan Anderton worked with Erik and the other musicians to engineer a streamlined, comfortable process that would foster the most creative environment possible.
